Black Streak Removal

I get asked many times what causes black streaks on caravans and how can I remove them, and also why do they come back?

Firstly, black streaks are usually found below rubber seals etc, around windows and doors, and can be caused by the rubber deteriorating, for which there is no cure (other than new rubbers). Another cause is road grime and dirt etc settling on the roof of the caravan and running down when it rains leaving black streaks on the side of the van.

They can however be controlled and kept to a minimum by regular cleaning using a good quality cleaner such as Fenwicks Black Streak Remover. The idea is not only to remove the black streaks that have already formed, but to ensure that the rubbers are kept as clean as possible so that they do not cause black streaks to run down the paintwork.

Some people assume that applying polish to the paintwork will stop them but this is incorrect, regular cleaning is the best approach and rinse with Fenwicks Bobby Dazzler, as this not only leaves the paintwork shiny, but it leaves a protective coating on the paintwork, which is completely removed the next time the van is cleaned. Thus everytime you clean the caravan, you are cleaning and treating the actual paintwork not just cleaning dirt off the built up layers of polish.
